Our kitchen is closer to being done! The painters finished all of the interior paint, and our kitchen countertops were installed Friday. The tile and wood floors will be installed next week.

Charles spent a good part of Saturday and Sunday putting up backerboard in our new shower. The tile guys will start next week once the painters are finished.

Also, all of the cabinets are finished, and they are so pretty. We are so happy with the way they turned out. The painters start today, so they will look very different in a few days. The kitchen granite is being installed this coming Friday.

Here's Lucky hanging out in our new bathroom cabinet. I think she likes it, but I also don't think she knows where she is. The house is completely different from when she saw it last.

The kitchen cabinets are just about done. They've built everything on-site except the drawers and cabinet doors. Those will be put in after they're painted. The painting starts today. We're guessing painting will take about a week.

The cabinet makers and trim carpenters have been working at the house all week. It took two days for the two trim carpenters to install all of our window sills, new doors, baseboards, crown moulding and install our new closet configuration. They move fast. The cabinets are going in now. They build everything on site, so you can see the work in progress. Above is the cabinet wall where our new range, microwave and fridge will be.

Last week, our new walls were textured. Basically, they bring in a very loud and very messy machine that sprays down the walls. The stuff gets everywhere. They were able to texture the entire house in about 45 minutes, so it's a pretty fast process. Here is our old bathroom with new texture. You can kind of see where the ceiling is still wet. For the most part, you can't see a difference from the photos, but it's a huge difference when you walk into the house. It's starting to feel like a real house. Right now, the cabinet guys and trim carpenters are putting in window sills, door frames and all of our new cabinets. I'll post photos of the cabinets once those get a little further along. At this point, we're about 4 weeks away from completion.

The drywall is done! It was put up over Labor Day weekend. Once the inspector approves it, taping, floating and texture is next. The above photo is taken from our kitchen looking towards the back of the house into the living room.

Looking into our master bath. The area below the green backer board is where our new tub will be. The first opening on the left is our master closet. The second opening is the walk-in shower.

We got over the big hurdle of the framing inspection (YAY!!!), so now we've moved on to insulating the house. All of the insulation was put in Saturday, and that inspection will happen Monday. Then, assuming all goes well with the insulation inspection, drywall will be put in starting on Tuesday. It will take around 2 weeks for the workers to put in (and repair) the drywall, float, tape and texture all of the walls in the house.
